Welcome to MEEA
What is MEEA?
- The Missouri Environmental Education Association
(MEEA) is a not-for profit membership-based professional
organization that serves environmental educators.
- We are teachers, students, youth group leaders,
volunteers, interpreters and others engaged in
environmental education.
- We represent educational and technical professionals
from schools, universities and colleges, not-for-profit
organizations, government agencies, business and
industry.
- We are citizens interested in understanding the
connections between built and natural enviroments, the
economy and society.
- Our focus on professional development means we are
well-prepared to foster the development of an
environmentally literate citizenry to lead Missouri
towards a clean and healthy future.
What is
Environmental Education (EE)?
- It is fair and accurate information and critical
thinking to solve community problems or concerns.
- It is a non-regulatory resource management tool.
- It is education for public health.
- It is about economics, about communities and about
environment.
How would Membership Benefit
You?
- The annual conference provides up-to-date information
on EE and opportunities to network with other EE
providers
- The certification program ensures members are
well-prepared to deal with the challenges and
opportunities in EE
- A quarterly newsletter summarizes professional
development opportunities and events of interest in
Missouri
- A listserv shares news about EE at the national and
international level
- A searchable database of local, state and regional
groups helps members connect with other EE resources
How does your membership
benefit EE in Missouri?
Your active involvement in certification, the conference,
the environmental literacy working group, marketing,
