  • Bonebrake Center of Nature and History- nurture the understanding and appreciation of nature, culture and history of the Salem area
  • Chilton Creek - in Shannon and Carter counties, north of Van Buren, a Nature Conservancy site, with a variety of natural ecological communities, more than 700 species of flowering plants, also an outdoor laboratory (with MDC) in forest management techniques

  • Ed Clark Museum of Missouri Geology - DNR museum in Rolla with rocks, fossils, mammoth tusks, maps and more
  • Elephant Rocks State Park - outside Graniteville, exposed granite outcrops have weathered into the shape (sort of) and size of elelphants, bedrock hosts distinctive ecological communities

  • Grand Gulf State Park - outside Thayer, a canyon, cave and natural bride formed by erosion, and the most spectacular collapsed cave system in the Ozarks
  • Grasshopper Hollow - in Reynolds county, southwest of Centerville, a Nature Conservancy site, with at least 15 different fen communities
  • Johnson Shut-Ins State Park - near Ironton, once popular for its distinctive stream geomorphology, more recently the site of a spectacular flood when a resevoir on top of a nearby mountain failed, follow the recovery at the park website

  • Ozark National Scenic Riverways - National Park featuring the Current and Jack's Fork Rivers

  • Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry - off Hiway 19 halfway between 32 and 60, part of Pioneer Forest, the state's largest privately owned forest
  • Sam A. Baker State Park - outside Patterson, precambrian igneous bedrock nobs, Mudlick Natural Area, glades, an nature center
  • Shut-in Mountain Fens - in Shannon County, southeast of Eminence, a Nature Conservancy site, with examples of the driest and wettest natural communities in Missouri
  • Taum Sauk Mountain State Park - southwest of Ironton, the highest point in Missouri, the highest wet weather falls, rugged topography and lots of ancient igneous rock
  • Thorny Mountain- in Shannon County, between Peck Ranch Wildlife area, Ozark National Scenic Riverways and Mule Mountain State Forest, a Nature Conservancy site, it is a rugged and remote area with some of the midcontinent's highest biodiversity, visitors should be able to use compass and topo maps
  • US Green Building Missouri Heartland Chapter - a partnership of professionals, government agencies, educators and interested individuals that want to make the heartland of Missouri an example of environmental, economic and community sustainability
  • Wappapello State Park - outside Williamsville, features rugged upland Ozark forest terrrain and a man made lake
  • Watersheds.org - a project of the Bryant Watershed Education Project
  • YMCA of the Ozarks- Trout Lodge - year round, not for profit, family get away and conference center featuring nature related activtivies
