Call for Board Nominations
Do you care about environmental education? Do you like to work with others
to advance ideas? Think Missouri needs to improve efforts regarding environmental
education? Then we have an opening for you! We're looking for a few good
souls to help increase the positive impact of environmental education
in the state. You don't have to have the right connections or know the
latest statistics about global warming - you just have to be willing to
work with others in the Missouri Environmental Education Association on
this worthwhile effort!
This year's openings are:
President-Elect
- Serves three years - first as President-Elect, second year as President
and third year as Past-President;
- Performs the duties of President in his/her absence;
- Serves as Chair of the Nominating Committee;
- Serves as co-liaison of the Marketing and Leadership Development Committee;
- Serves as liaison to the North American Association for Environmental
Education - if available, attends national conference with travel and
registration paid by MEEA.
Requirements:
- Nominee must have been a MEEA member for at least one year.
- Other useful qualities: patience, attention to detail, ability to
facilitate decision-making, writing, public speaking, meeting deadlines,
perseverance and not taking yourself too seriously.
Treasurer and Bookkeeper
- This position can be handled with two different people, or one person
can fill both jobs.
- Prepares the budget and all financial transactions;
- Approves expenditures and invoices;
- Signs checks for monthly invoicing, makes deposits as necessary;
- Coordinates with bookkeeper, finance committee and executive committee;
- Produces regular and year-end reports with gross receipts and disbursements;
" Monitors organization financial matters, including tax forms,
bulk mail permits, etc.
Requirements:
- Nominee must have prior treasurer and bookkeeper experience.
Board Member-At-Large (three openings)
- Serves two years and is a voting member of MEEA's Executive Board
of Directors;
- Serves as a liaison to a MEEA committee;
- Useful qualities: patience, perseverance, ability to work with a group
and to proactively lead committee work.
Board Details
- The MEEA Board meets four to six times per year;
- Meeting locations rotate around the state and are determined by the
Board.
- MEEA reimburses mileage and other MEEA-related expenses and provides
lunch at meetings.
- Board and committee members may spend five to ten days each year on
Board work; officers may spend twice that.

Please consider nominating yourself or someone you know to serve on the
MEEA Board. Nomination deadline is August 26. If you are not quite
ready to commit to serving on the Board, consider serving on a committee.
