Missouri Environmental Education News March 2014

Field Trip at School

"Taking a Field Trip at Your School" introduced teachers to using environmental audits to engage their students in math, science, English and social studies, all with one activity. Working in small groups, teachers used worksheets to collect data on water use, energy sources, lighting and grounds. The assessment was individually drawn mini-posters with a graph of the data that was collected, a recommendation about what to change and an illustration. The workshop was part of Interface, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Math and Science Conference for Teachers. Examples of the teachers' work is show above.
